And now a knot with nothing useful in the middle. All knot tiers end up with short cut-off pieces. After you have found some use for the longest ones you are left with a handful of REALLY short pieces. I usually wad these up and make a round ball covered with the knot of the day. This knot was done as an exercise. By careful shaping of the stuffing, I worked it up into a nice egg shape. Like most of my knots, it is pulled so tight that it sounds like wood when tapped on a hard surface, a habit I acquired on boats where a knot working loose was, at the very least, taken as a sign that you were lubberly.
