I found this fantastic site by a knot tier of great talent and a physicist. He found new a way (by using scientific analysis) to tie Ashley’s knot #2217. This is one of Ashley’s covering knots tied on a flat pattern pinned to a pad. A cumbersome, but till now best method to tie these knots. Mr. Brannen has converted these to a Turk’s Head-like method tied around a mandrel. Much easier to comprehend and to tie. I know the world of cosmology and physics would miss his time if he did, but I can only hope he spends more time in the knot world.
